Doology is the discipline practiced at the only teaching church/spiritual and cultural organization in Rochester, NY, known as First Community Interfaith Institute Inc. Minister Lawrance Lee Evans is the National Minister of First Community Interfaith Institute Inc. and he came up with the idea of Doology as a teenager. Minister Evans went on to establish the Institute in 1970. In Doology, we are taught that positive action in your community or organization is valued more than just complaining.
Our beloved Queen Mother, Sister Akilah Ife Evans (1946-2012) would be celebrating her 68th birthday on September 19. You are invited to hear songs and libations, among other things, in her honor at the 3rd Annual Ma Akilah Cultural Extravaganza on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 4 pm, at the Institute headquarters, 219 Hamilton Street. Brother Johnny Brown and his daughter Ty'Johnna "So-So" Brown will be performing in concert during the Cultural Extravaganza.
